Mangrove Wetland Museum

The design concept of this project focuses on integrating with nature, with the roof and geometric shapes of the building designed to mimic natural hyperboloids. XCE was responsible for providing Structural Engineering schematic design services for the project, using parametric modeling to generate complex structural geometry and optimize the design. Our team developed a lightweight structural system that was able to accommodate the double curvature roof, long span, cantilever, and column-free design of the building. The new system was designed to be prefabricated in the shop and assembled on site, minimizing the construction impact on the environment and the subway operation below the deck. By leveraging our expertise in parametric modeling, we were able to ensure the safety and operational integrity of the existing structure, while maximizing the flexibility and efficiency of the space. The result is a stunning museum that seamlessly integrates with its natural surroundings, creating a multi-level spatial experience for visitors.
